MY LIFE as a Recently Returned Missionary

So since this blog is all about dates and awkward stories, I thought I would tell my side of this lifestyle called BYU dating. So just to sum up, I've been home from my mission for about 3 months, from the best mission in the world, the Brasil Brasília Mission. I don't know many people at BYU so I'm in the getting-to-know-you stage of the semester. However, since my roommates are BABES, I'll just explain to you what my life looks like. I don't have class until noon every day (I know right? Weird) and then all of my classes are done by 5:30PM. So then I come home, do some homework, eat dinner and just chill.

As I'm waiting, all of my roommates get home and I greet them. We talk for a few minutes and they grab something to eat and then they say, "Okay I gotta get ready to go". I ask "Where are you going?" They say (and I'm not kidding you; this happened at least 10 TIMES!!) "Oh I'm going on a date tonight." I say "Oh cool. With whom?" "His name is [insert date's name here]." So they start getting ready and then about 15 minutes later, someone knocks on the door and (EVERY TIME. I'm  always the only one there...) I go over and open the door and let [date] in and tell him that my roommate [insert name here] is almost ready, at which time I go back to [roommate]'s room and tell her that [date] is here. So she finishes getting ready and leaves with [date] and I close the door behind them and go back and sit on the couch with my date, MnM's and my fellow single compatriot, Deise. Now repeat this paragraph EVERY DAY! And you have lived my life for the last 3 weeks.

This is my life. But I love it. I'm still an awkward returned missionary and that's ok. I had the time of my life in Brazil and now I'm ready for my next adventure as a college student. Marriage is an amazing thing that I am so excited for. I am excited to find an eternal companion and be married for time and all eternity to him and create an eternal family. I know this will be the best time of my life. I'm in the Eternal Family class for crying out loud!! BUT, dating: now that's another story; I'm sure it will be great too when it comes around. For now, I'm just enjoying college life and the getting-to-know-you stage and being the date receptionist at B305.

That's about it for now. To my other single friends, just remember. If it looks like everyone else is having way more dates than you, just take time to be thankful that you didn't have to suffer the sad fates that my other roommates have so eloquently described on this blog. The right person will come and when it does, it will be awesome! That's the Lord's promise as we are obedient. Trust Him! Have a great day! --Julie
