Hey, this is Holly.
So the other day, I went over to a cute boy's house to do homework... and before all of you sassy ladies judge, WE DID HOMEWORK. I WAS SWAMPED.
Anyways... we're both watching wonderful online lectures and all of a sudden my phone rings. It was an unknown number; I decided to pick it up; what if it was someone from my ward or one of my classes? It was Matt.
So who is Matt one might ask? I met Matt at the Colony during the summer. He is a really fun guy-much older than me though-and he had actually asked me out in August, but I was leaving for home in two days at the time. I had told him that we should definitely go out when I got back, and I knew I would see him because we were both moving to the Elms. I had seen him multiple times since coming back from Indiana, in groups and one-on-one; he had ample opportunity to ask me out again but just hadn't yet.
All this is running through my mind as I, sitting next to cute boy, say "Hello! How are you?" We exchange pleasantries (literally the only way to describe what went down) and finally he asks me what I was doing on Thursday night, because he would like to ask me on a date. AW SNAP. So, in true Holly form, sitting next to cute guy that I'm not dating yet, I respond the best way I am able to: "I can't."
He then tells me to have a great rest of my week, and then we end the call.
Aw crumbs. Now switch from one awkward conversation to the next.
I turn to cute boy, and he says, "I'm sorry if that was awkward. Who was it?" I respond that it was Matt, who he knows very well. Then cute boy puts the icing on the cake: "Oh, he asked me for your number earlier and I forgot to respond... WELP that isn't going to happen! You're next to me!"
This, ladies, was a true face palm moment.
P.S. If you're ever needing help coming up with excuses, don't ask me. My resume also includes a guy asking me out for a Friday night, to which I responded, "I have church meetings."
